Reader’s Digest Association puts itself up for $1-billion sale: Financial Times

<p><em>The Financial Times </em><a href="http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/6458f810-b147-11e0-a43e-00144feab49a.html#axzz1SaNVpXyp">is reporting</a> that the Reader's Digest Association has put itself up for a $1-billion sale "according to people with knowledge of the plans."<br /><br />The 90-year-old mega publishing and marketing company publishes more than 90 magazines,  including, of course, Reader's Digest. The company has refused to comment, but in April it <em>did</em> replace then CEO Mary Berner, who had been in the top spot for four years.<br />

John Miller on Sun Media’s decision to leave press council: “Call ’em outlaws”

One month left to apply for Peter Gzowski Life Literacy Fellowship

<p>Journalists have one month left to apply for the Peter Gzowski Life Literacy Fellowship, which grants reporters $3,000 to research and develop a story on adult literacy in Canada. Last year's winner was Susan Quinlan of the <em>Prairie Post West Newspaper,</em> who wrote about the growing Low German Mennonite community in southern Alberta, and its struggles to access literacy courses. Check out the <a href="http://abclifeliteracy.ca/peter-gzowski-life-literacy-fellowship">ABC Life Literacy Canada website</a> to read her story and for more information on the fellowship.</p>
