Canadian publications nominated for 2012 Online Journalism Awards

<p>The Online News Association has announced the <a href="http://journalists.org/2012/08/29/2012-online-journalism-awards-finalists-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nominees for the 2012 Online Journalism Awards</a>, which will be given out at the ONA annual conference on Sept. 22. This year, the conference is taking place in San Fransisco.  </p><p> </p><p>A number of Canadian publications and journalists were nominated for the awards, including The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, the National Film Board, CBC News and the Edmonton Journal.</p>

Ryerson appoints Paul Woods as Rogers distinguished visiting professor in journalism

<p> </p><p>Paul Woods, a long-time journalist for the Canadian Press, has been named Ryerson University’s <em>Rogers Distinguished Visiting Professor in Journalism</em> for the 2012 – 2013 Academic Year.</p><p>Woods is no stranger to Ryerson’s journalism program, having taught in its Masthead course for fourth-year students in 1999-2000 and having created and taught a continuing education class in 2002-2003.</p>

Former NFB president Jaques Bensimon has passed away

<p>Jacques Bensimon, the former president of the National Film Board, has passed away at the age of 69. Bensimon was president of the NFB from 2001 to 2006, and produced, directed and wrote for several NFB productions between 1967 and 1987.</p>
