Paul Woods, a long-time journalist for the Canadian Press, has been named Ryerson University’s Rogers Distinguished Visiting Professor in Journalism for the 2012 – 2013 Academic Year.

Woods is no stranger to Ryerson’s journalism program, having taught in its Masthead course for fourth-year students in 1999-2000 and having created and taught a continuing education class in 2002-2003.

Paul Woods, a long-time journalist for the Canadian Press, has been named Ryerson University’s Rogers Distinguished Visiting Professor in Journalism for the 2012 – 2013 Academic Year.

Woods is no stranger to Ryerson’s journalism program, having taught in its Masthead course for fourth-year students in 1999-2000 and having created and taught a continuing education class in 2002-2003.

Woods was CP’s director of human resources when the news organization made the transition from non-profit co-operative to privately-owned for-profit corporation in 2010, and was a key figure in that transition, Gerg Hauck, Ryerson’s Dean of Faculty of Communication and Design, said in a release. Prior to that role, Woods held a number of positions at CP, including reporter, news editor and bureau chief.

In his role as visiting professor in journalism, Woods will teach Ryerson’s senior-level capstone Senior Reporting course, where fourth year students work beats in the digital-first Ryersonian newsroom.
