Campagne électorale: les journalistes se remettent en question

<p>La dernière course électorale fédérale a fait grincer des dents plus d'un journaliste. Ceux qui ont couvert la campagne du Parti conservateur se sont plus d'une fois plaints de la stratégie de communication du parti qui asteignait son chef, Stephen Harper, a ne répondre qu'à 4 ou 5 questions par jour. La Fédération professionnelle des journalistes du Québec (FPJQ) a tenté une autopsie de campagne samedi à l'occasion de son congrès annuel.</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0cm"> </p>

Toronto Mayor’s press secretary joins Sun

<p>Adrienne Batra will only have to manage Rob Ford's often-testy dealings with reporters for a few more days. Then, the Mayor's press secretary becomes the <a href="http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/29/adrienne-batra-joins-the-sun">Toronto Sun's comment edito</a>r, as well as a municipal affairs correspondent with Newstalk 1010. Batra, formerly with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation in Manitoba, and a columnist with the Winnipeg Sun, joined Ford's mayoralty campaign in 2010.</p>

Vaste restructuration chez Quebecor Sun Media

Google and Global Editors Network launch Data Journalism Awards

<p> </p><p>The Global Editors Network has <a href="http://www.globaleditorsnetwork.org/djawards/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced the launch</a> of the Data Journalism Awards in partnership with Google.  </p><p>The awards will recognize and set standards for data journalism, which is largely still an emerging form. Media companies, non-profit organizations and individuals can apply. An international jury of editors and experts will give three awards in three areas: data-driven investigations, interactive data visualizations, and data-driven mobile or web applications/services.</p>

No comment from Quebecor on reported 400 layoffs

<p>There have been <a href="http://www.ctvnews.ca/quebecor-cutting-400-sun-media-jobs-union-1.732454" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> today that Quebecor, one of Canada’s largest media companies and owner of Sun Media, has laid off 400 employees.  </p><p>Serge Sasseville, vice president, corporate and institutional affairs of Quebecor, said in an email to J-Source that he did not wish to comment at the moment.  </p><p>Below are the tweets that sparked the story, and some of the response.</p>

CJFE gala celebrates whistleblowers, Arab Spring reporters

<p><em>On Thursday, Nov. 24, CJFE hosted its annual gala to recognize and honour courageous journalism. <strong>Rhiannon Russell</strong>  tells of this year's gala, held at the Royal York hotel in Toronto, that focused on whistleblowing, the Arab Spring and how the movements have impacted free expression. </em></p><p>The audience rose to its feet as the names of the 89 journalists killed in 2011 appeared on the screens. A moment of silence.</p><p>It was a night to honour courageous reporting.</p>

Glen McGregor challenges Ezra Levant to disclose salary
