A quick round-up of the Canadian Association of Journalists Awards gala

J-Source and ProjetJ win Canadian Association of Journalists President’s Award

J-Source.ca and Projet-J honoured for excellence by Canadian journalists

<p>J-Source.ca and Projet-J have won the President’s Award, from the Canadian Association of Journalists. </p><p>The award recognizes a significant contribution to Canadian journalism. The distinction, which is given only under circumstances of exceptional merit, was presented at the CAJ’s investigative journalism awards banquet. Past winners include Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi, who was murdered in Iran, and former Le Journal de Montreal crime reporter Michel Auger and a group of lawyers who advocate for free speech and access to information.</p>

Mysterious ‘retraction’ appears online months after story published by The Ottawa Citizen

<p>Back in January, <em>The Ottawa Citizen</em>’s Zev Singer wrote a <a href="http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/story.html?id=6542503"> scathing article</a> about Michel Luc Bellemare that, in so many words, accused the artist of fabricating his resume–an accusation that Bellemare vehemently denies.   The story itself is worth reading, but there is more to it now.</p>

Journalists victims of police and protester violence in Montreal student demonstrations

Social media movement celebrates Nick Kristof’s birthday

<p>Nick Kristof’s birthday isn’t until tomorrow, but <a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-33619_3-57421675-275/kristofize-social-birthday-present-for-nick-kristof-aims-to-do-good/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">at the encouragement of Sree Sreenivasan</a> of Columbia's School of Journalism, people on social media are “Kristofizing” to celebrate the two-time Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. That is, adding “of” to the end of their social media names as a way of recognizing his successful use of social media.</p>
