Nick Kristof’s birthday isn’t until tomorrow, but at the encouragement of Sree Sreenivasan of Columbia's School of Journalism, people on social media are “Kristofizing” to celebrate the two-time Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. That is, adding “of” to the end of their social media names as a way of recognizing his successful use of social media.

That is, adding “of” to the end of their social media names as a way of recognizing his successful use of social media.

…those of us who are his fans and readers can use social media to do what Kristof would do: use his birthday as an occasion to get some attention to the causes he cares about. Except, in this case, he has no idea ahead of time that we are doing this.

…Except for the fact that it’s on the Internet and the social media channels that Kristof uses quite successfully, of course. 

 

 

But alas, getting Kristofized isn’t the real gift to the journalist: That would be following and supporting the Half the Sky Movement, which works to the same vein as the book, Half the Sky, that Kristof and his wife, Sheryl WuDunn wrote in 2010.
