The Calgary YWCA honoured Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang, the first Canadian journalist killed in Afghanistan, with a special tribute at a recent luncheon.
The luncheon honoured women leaders in Calgary.
Lang, along with four Canadian soldiers, was killed by a bomb in December, 2009.
Jill Wyatt, chief executive of the YWCA, said Lang was added to the ceremony “because she exemplifies its goal of developing leadership in women and girls. She is so representative of what we stand for. It just seemed like a natural fit.”
