Digital journalism was honoured last night as the winners of the 2012 Canadian Online Publishing Awards presented by Masthead were announced at The Hoxton in Toronto by emcee Amber Mac.
The COPAs are broken down into three categories by publication type: Red (consumer, custom, religious, public association); Blue (business-to-business, professional association, farm, scholarly); and Green (daily and weekly newspapers, and broadcasters).

Big winners from the night included Maclean’s, Sparksheet and CBC, in the red, blue and green categories, respectively.
In the Blue category, student journalism publications The Ryersonian (Ryerson University) and Thunderbird (UBC) took home Gold awards. In the Green category, the Toronto Star, which led all publications with 14 nominations going into the awards ceremony, walked away with three Silver awards.
