The world's first radio play-by-play broadcast of a professional hockey game was made on March 14, 1923. Pete Parker called the Western Canada Professional Hockey League game between the Regina Capitals and the Edmonton Eskimos. Edmonton beat Regina, 1-0. CKCK, which was founded in 1922 and was one of Canada’s first radio stations, closed its door after almost 80 years of service in Sakatchewan on Nov. 30, 2001.
