This week in Canadian media history: Fire consumed CTV Ottawa newsroom in 2010

A fire consumed the CTV Ottawa newsroom on Feb. 7, 2010. The blaze caused $2.5 million in damage and required 18 trucks, 70 firefighters and more than two hours to contain it. One security guard was working at the time not did not suffer any injuries.

A fire consumed the CTV Ottawa newsroom on Feb. 7, 2010. The blaze caused $2.5 million in damage and required 18 trucks, 70 firefighters and more than two hours to contain it. One security guard was working at the time not did not suffer any injuries.

The newsroom’s workstations were destroyed in the fire, along with some irreplaceable items.

According to a report by CTV, report: “[a]mong the devastating property losses are the local news archives of this city's history and the 37-year video history of anchor Max Keeping who is set to retire on April 1.”
