On April 12, 1912, the first issue of The Vancouver Sun was printed. Now, 100 years later, they are poised to throw a centennial party for the newspaper.

Saturday’s edition of The Sun will celebrate the history of the paper, and contain a full-page Sun-themed crossword, behind-the-scenes newsroom stories, historic front pages, memorable photos and a look at legendary Sun employees.

On April 12, 1912, the first issue of The Vancouver Sun was printed. Now, 100 years later, they are poised to throw a centennial party for the newspaper.

Saturday’s edition of The Sun will celebrate the history of the paper, and contain a full-page Sun-themed crossword, behind-the-scenes newsroom stories, historic front pages, memorable photos and a look at legendary Sun employees.

Also, The Sun has partnered with local coffee roaster JJ Bean to create a “Birthday Bean.” Customers can buy single bags of the Brazilian coffee, from which $2 will go towards Raise-a-reader and Room to Read programs. They are also offering a Birthday Bean Subscription, where you can get both the coffee and The Vancouver Sun delivered right to your door (and the first month of The Sun subscription is free).

The paper has also launched a retro-feeling landing page to commemorate.
