Updated: Dave Breakenridge joins Edmonton Sun as editor-in-chief

Dave Breakenridge is the new editor-in-chief of the Edmonton Sun.

Breakenridge, currently online content editor of the Calgary Sun, will start his new role in Edmonton on June 23. His replacement in Calgary has not yet been named.

Dave Breakenridge is the new editor-in-chief of the Edmonton Sun.

Breakenridge, currently online content editor of the Calgary Sun, will start his new role in Edmonton on June 23. His replacement in Calgary has not yet been named.

“The Edmonton Sun is home to a talented group of journalists, many of whom I have known for several years. I'm ​excited to take a leadership role in that newsroom,” he told J-Source in an email. “As a born-and-raised Edmontonian, I'm looking forward to coming home after 10 years in Calgary.”

Breakenridge added that Steve Serviss, the current editor-in-chief of the Edmonton Sun, has been promoted to a new role within the Sun Media chain in Ontario starting in July. J-Source was unable to reach Serviss or Quebecor, Sun Media’s parent company, for comment.

Update: Serviss has been named the editor-in-chief of the Kingston Whig Standard as well as the Sun Media regional content director for Ontario.
