The Toronto Star is offering a 3-day web multimedia workshop for journalists in October.
The course will run Monday, Oct. 5 through Wednesday, Oct. 7 and will be run by Robb Montgomery, a Chicago-based new media journalist and CEO of Visual Editors.
The cost is $225 for all three days and single-day courses are offered for $99.

What will I learn?
WEB REPORTING – Monday, October 5
Improve your reporting and audience engagement with social media tools and techniques. Learn how to write for the Web, manage a Twitter persona for yourself or your organization and dig into many delicious ways to use social media for research and publishing.
VISUAL REPORTING – Tuesday, October 6
Low-cost visual multimedia tools and techniques. Learn how to create embeddable slideshows, clickable graphics, interactive maps, and quickly visualize data for Web audiences.
VIDEO REPORTING – Wednesday, October 7
Fundamental of producing video stories. How to shoot a visual story, Interviewing and script writing tips. Course introduces basic edits and story planning to speed up production time.

The Toronto Star and Visual Editors are offering this low-cost training over three days. Attend any one-day class for $99 or buy the multi-day pass for $225 to reserve your seat in the classroom. (Prices are in Canadian Dollars)

Freelance writers, journalists, communication directors, field correspondants, reporters, journalism educators, web producers, and publication editors.
Requirements:
Participants will bring their own laptop to the classroom.
Students must bring a laptop and digital still camera for the visual reporting workshop.

The instructor
Sessions will be run by Chicago new media journalist and the CEO of Visual Editors, Robb Montgomery. Montgomery trains journalists in more than 20 countries in video journalism, social media and Web multimedia. Robb will be joined by senior journalists and seasoned trainers from The Toronto Star as the workshops progress.
