Susan Bonner named host of CBC Radio’s World at Six

Susan Bonner is the new host of CBC Radio’s World at Six program on Sept. 2.

The veteran CBC journalist will take over the anchor chair from Alison Smith, who retired from the public broadcaster earlier this summer.

Susan Bonner is the new host of CBC Radio’s World at Six program on Sept. 2.

The veteran CBC journalist will take over the anchor chair from Alison Smith, who retired from the public broadcaster earlier this summer.

“It is so exciting to take on a lead role on this stellar program,” Bonner said in a press release. “The World at Six is CBC News at its best; an intelligent look at the news of the day with the voices of the people‎ driving the stories."

She recently completed a four-year assignment at CBC’s Washington bureau. She joined the CBC as a summer trainee in 1985 and has worked in several roles, including 10 years at the parliamentary bureau.

“Susan’s been at the front lines of major stories over the course of her career, and she’ll bring that depth of experience and innate curiosity to her role leading the World at Six,” said Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor-in-chief of CBC News, in a press release. “Susan’s intelligence will bring an original take to the stories that matter, helping audiences understand not only what happened, but why.”
