Lucie Leduc, Sun Media’s vice-president for 24 hours newspapers, is leaving the company.
Leduc was responsible for running Sun Media’s six free dailies in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa. But in July, Sun Media decided to shutter three of those newspapers—in Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa—saying it decided to focus on a single urban newspaper in each market, except Montréal and Toronto, where the large transit systems warrant a free daily. The decision to halt publication was part of a larger restructuring at Sun Media when 360 positions were eliminated and eight other publications were closed down.
Isabelle Dessureault, a spokesperson for Quebecor, told J-Source Leduc was leaving the organization following the restructuring.
