Roles shifting at CBC: Smith, Solomon, Kelley, MacNeil and more

As a part of the layoffs and structural shifting at CBC, a few more staff changes have been put in place, The Toronto Star reports.

The changes the Star reported are:

  • CBC News Washington correspondent Alison Smith will move to CBC Radio’s World at Six (joining Bernie McNamee and new senior producer Don Spandier)
  • The Star‘s refers to “insider” sources saying that Mellissa Fung is the first choice to replace Smith, but this has not been confirmed
  • Mark Kelley (correspondent and substitute anchor for The National), Evan Solomon and Carole MacNeil (former hosts of cancelled Sunday show) will become part of CBC Newsworld’s on-air team
  • Paul Hambleton was named managing editor of the Ottawa parliamentary bureau
  • Jonathan Whitten is set to become director of The National
  • Mark Harrison is set to become executive producer of The National
