Police allegedly erase photos during G20 arrests

Some journalists that were arrested while covering the G20 summit in
Toronto claim that police wiped their cameras clean of images and
video.

One of the arrested journalists, Montreal’s Amy Miller, told Lise Lareau of the blog -30- that journalists and other people she knew had their cameras stolen or wiped clean of images.

Lareau writes:

“That video would obviously be useful for the public record about those fateful two days. It may be evidence for someone’s defence. It could be damning evidence about the actions of the police. Or it could support the actions police took. In any case, it’s all gone, and we should all be demanding whether police kept copies of the material confiscated, and whether and how it will be used.”

Lareau also includes the stories of several other independent journalists whose cameras were erased, including memory cards that went missing altogether.
