Three editorial staff will be laid off with the closure of Glacier Media’s North Shore Outlook.

The B.C. weekly newspaper, which publishes in West Vancouver and North Vancouver, will publish its last edition on March 27, reporter Michaela Garstin told J-Source. Editor Justin Beddall and reporter Maria Spitale-Leisk will be let go, in addition to Garstin.

“We were told yesterday that all editorial is being laid off but some sales people are staying on with Glacier,” Garstin said. “We’re all very sad to see it go.”

J-Source was not immediately able to reach publisher Doug Foot or Glacier Media for comment.

Earlier this year, Glacier shut down Kamloops Daily News after more than 80 years of publication due to declining revenues and an inability to reduce expenses. The company also merged Dawson Creek Daily News, one of its B.C. publications, into the Alaska Highway News on Feb. 3.
