There has been a lot of movement in The Gazette newsroom in Montreal recently.

Earlier this month, J-Source reported on The Gazette announcing the team for its four-platform strategy and Peggy Curran being named the city editor. Steve Faguy, a copy editor at The Gazette and a blogger based in Montreal, has reported on some of the other changes in the newsroom.

Monique Beaudin, who covered the environment beat, became the morning city assignment editor in May. Enza Micheletti, who has been a morning online editor, will take over as arts and life editor.

Faguy also said reporter Brenda Branswell is returning to the city department after a year covering sports. Meanwhile, Christopher Curtis is moving from the city beat to the sports department. Eva Friede will cover retail and real estate in addition to covering the fashion beat. She takes over the beat from Allison Lampert, who took a buyout. Most of these appointments take effect in September.

Earlier this year, J-Source reported on five buyouts at The Gazette: reporters Jan Ravensbergen and Lampert, editor writer Hubert Bauch, associate managing editor Michael Shenker and desk clerk Sherry Hattem.
