Meagan Perry new interim editor-in-chief of Rabble.ca

Rabble.ca has appointed Meagan Perry as its new interim editor-in-chief after the online magazine fired Derrick O’Keefe last month.

O’Keefe, who had been working as editor since April 2012, claimed he was fired without cause on a week’s notice, and his departure was followed with the resignation of one of his colleagues, Ethan Cox.

Rabble.ca has appointed Meagan Perry as its new interim editor-in-chief after the online magazine fired Derrick O’Keefe last month.

Publisher Kim Elliott said as the new editor-in-chief, Perry will be responsible for “steering Rabble's editorial course, leading our process of reviewing best online newsroom practices and coordinating Rabble's national multi-media coverage of the stories either missing—or misconstrued—by big media.”

According to her bio, Perry has been a senior member of Rabble.ca's editorial team since she was brought on in 2006 to oversee the magazine’s podcast network as its executive producer, a role she will continue to hold. Prior to that, she worked for CBC’s As It Happens and Definitely Not the Opera.

"I am very pleased to take on a new role in my work with the dedicated, passionate group of people who contribute to Rabble.ca: writers, audio and video podcast producers, babblers, and the Rabble.ca editorial team," Perry said in a statement.

Elliott added Rabble.ca’s editorial team will grow and change over the coming months. Kaitlin McNabb has been named the new news coordinator for Rabble.ca in addition to her role as book lounge coordinator.
