British journalist Bill Deedes, the inspiration for the central character in Evelyn Waugh’s novel Scoop, has died at the age of 94, reports CBC. Deedes, who was still writing for the Daily Telegraph until recently, died on Friday. His 76-year career included stints as a newspaper editor and as a cabinet minister under prime minister Harold Macmillan in 1962.
