Do you know someone who has inspired working journalists, educators or
audiences with their work? The Journalism Integrity Award recognizes a
person or organization that has had a positive impact on the quality of
journalism in Canada in 2010. We’re seeking your nominations now: the
deadline has been extended to January 14.
Since 2007, J-Source and ProjetJ have been helping Canadians passionate about journalism stay on top of the profession. We’ve been monitoring trends, spreading news about innovations and examining ethical issues and shifting economic models during this time of revolutionary change.
We strive to recognize and celebrate the efforts of journalists, journalism educators, activists and citizens who believe that journalism can make a difference in a functioning democracy.
The Journalism Integrity Award was established in 2009 to do exactly that. Our inaugural winners were the employees of the CHEK-TV newsroom in Victoria, BC, who bought the station and operated it as a local independent news station dedicated to improving the quality and quantity of local news. “What an honour!” said Rob Germain, CHEK’s news director (pictured with the award).
The second annual Journalism Integrity Award will honour a Canadian individual or organization that has encouraged excellence, had a positive impact on the quality of journalism at the local and/or national level and serves as an inspiration to working journalists, educators, and/or audiences and the Canadian public.
Submit a 500- to 1,000-word explanation of why you’re nominating the organization or person for work done in 2010 (detailed nomination guidelines are listed below).
Nominations will be accepted until January 14, 2011.
I look forward to seeing your nominations.
