Kevin O’Leary is leaving CBC’s The Lang & O'Leary Exchange to become an on-air contributor for Bell Media.

O’Leary, who co-hosted the show with Amanda Lang since 2009, will join Bell Media on Sept. 1.

“I am excited to be joining Bell Media, as CTV is where I first started my television career,” said O’Leary in a press release. “I look forward to working with some of Canada’s finest producers to maintain the dialogue about capitalism, entrepreneurialism, and family finance that we need to have as a nation.”

He will be seen and heard on BNN, Canada AM and Newstalk 1010 among other shows.

“We are very happy to welcome Kevin to the Bell Media team,” said Kevin Crull, president of Bell Media, in a press release. “Kevin is an engaging personality whose savvy advice and strong business acumen will be of great interest to our viewers and listeners.”

O’Leary also announced his departure from the popular CBC reality show Dragon’s Den earlier this year.

"I want to thank Kevin for all of his contributions to CBC News throughout his time with us,” said Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor-in-chief of CBC News, in a statement. “While sometimes controversial, you could always count on him to provide honest insight and a unique perspective."

Lang will take the helm of a new business program replacing The Lang & O'Leary Exchange on CBC News Network and CBC Television this fall.

"I've really enjoyed working with Kevin and will miss the daily battle of wills.  I have the greatest respect for Kevin and wish him all the success in the world," she said.
