I’m pleased to announce that long-time journalism educator and journalist Joe Banks will write a regular column for J-Source. Media Musings will cover a broad range of issues related to the journalism industry and journalism education, as befits someone with Banks’s experience.

I’m pleased to announce that long-time journalism educator and journalist Joe Banks will write a regular column for J-Source. Media Musings will cover a broad range of issues related to the journalism industry and journalism education, as befits someone with Banks’s experience.
Banks is currently a professor in and coordinator of the journalism program at Algonquin College in Ottawa. He also manages GoJournalism.ca, a non-profit project owned by the college aimed at funding stories. Banks has a long history in the industry: he is a former columnist for the Ottawa Citizen and was the editor and publisher at a number of community newspapers in the Ottawa Valley.
I hope you’ll enjoy the first installment of Media Musings—in which Banks explains his theory that any journalism graduate who wants a job can find one—and the other columns to come. If you have any ideas for the column, please get in touch with Banks directly at banksj@algonquincollege.com.
