J-Source Canadian Newsperson of the Year: Nominations close Jan 16

From protesters to presidents, we all know the people who have made the news this year. But what about the people who covered it? The people who brought us the big stories, uncovered scandals, informed us about our communities?

From protesters to presidents, we all know the people who have made the news this year. But what about the people who covered it? The people who brought us the big stories, uncovered scandals, informed us about our communities?

The J-Source Canadian Newsperson of the Year Award will honour someone who has demonstrated excellence in journalism. In big cities or small towns, with established media companies or with innovative start-ups, reporters, editors, producers, managers and owners have created quality journalism for Canadians.

We have received a number of nominations so far, but we still want to hear who you think we should honour before the Jan. 16 deadline.

For almost five years, J-Source has been striving to recognize and celebrate the efforts of journalists, journalism educators, activists and citizens who believe that journalism can make a difference in a functioning democracy.  Once a year, we shine a light on journalists who make all of us proud: who demonstrate excellence, integrity and innovation.  We’re looking for nominations from all areas of journalism and from across Canada.

Let us know about someone who has made a difference. Send in your nominations for the J-Source Canadian Newsperson of 2011.

Nominations close at 11:59p.m. on Jan. 16. You can find more details and nomination guidelines here.
