Grant Ellis is the new general manager of BNN.

Ellis, who joined BNN after seven years at the Financial Post, will be responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic vision of the business channel owned by Bell Media. He will report to Wendy Freeman, president of CTV News.

“Grant’s extensive experience in business journalism, digital media, live television production and management has equipped him with the skills and expertise to lead BNN’s continued growth and success,” said Freeman in a press release.

Ellis replaces Jack Fleischmann, whose last day as general manager of BNN and vice-president of CTV News Channel is Aug. 8, according to The Globe and Mail’s media reporter James Bradshaw.

Last week, Fleischmann announced he will be departing from Bell Media to pursue new opportunities. "We thank Jack for his commitment and contribution to Bell Media," Freeman added in an email to J-Source.

Ellis was the managing editor of the Financial Post for four years. Prior to that, he was a senior producer at BNN.
