The Globe and Mail will have to find a new home after parent company Woodbridge Co. Ltd. announced its decision to sell a parcel of land that had been slated for a new building that would have seen the news organization as a tenant.

The Globe’s Steve Ladurantaye reports that with the sale, Woodbridge has scrapped its plans to build an 18-storey office tower on land at the corner of Front St. and Spadina Ave. where a Toyota dealership previously sat. The news organization would have occupied space in this new building, which was planned to be completed in 2015.

Crews broke ground on the land in late October.
