Fame, fortune, and party tickets

The National Magazine Awards is calling on submissions for the Best Student Writer category. Each year, the $1000 award is handed out to a winner who attends a gala in Toronto on June 5, 2009, along with two Honourable Mention award winners.

The NMA website says that in order to apply, you must be:

• a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
• have an original non-fiction piece published in a Canadian consumer magazine or Canadian university magazine within the calendar year 2008
• have been a full-time post-secondary student during 2008.

There’s other instructions here. The deadline is Jan. 9, 2009, and don’t forget the $25 application fee.
