The Globe and Mail (and other media) has reported that Conrad Black is going back to prison, after being out on bond for nearly a year. At his resentencing hearing today in Chicago, U.S. judge Amy St. Eve sentenced Black to 42 months, less time served. He has already served 29 months in jail, but has been out of jail pursuing various appeals. Two fraud charges were reversed, leading to the resentencing.
At the news today of the sentence, Black’s wife, Barbara Amiel, collapsed in her seat, reports the Globe.”She struggled to stand upright as she walked out,” reports Paul Waldie, who is liveblogging from the courtroom, “and was clearly upset.”
