“Readers have a choice. Some readers prefer the newspaper and others prefer the online experience and accessibility while on the go,” she wrote. “Whether readers want the newspaper, or prefer to read on their computers or on their mobile devices and tablets, we’re asking consumers to pay for our product.”

Print subscribers get unlimited access to online content while non-subscribers can access 10 free articles a month. Digital subscription packages range from $3 to $6.17 a week.

In April, the independently owned newspaper stopped printing its Sunday edition and replaced it with a larger, redesigned weekend edition.
