Chatelaine rebuilds editorial team

ChatelaineLast week, six people from Chatelaine’s editorial team were shown the door as part of new editor Jane Francisco’s restructuring efforts, which also brought three new hires to the art department. This week, three new senior hires join the editorial team.

Among the replacement hires are several of Francisco’s former colleagues from the now-defunct Wish magazine (she was editor when it folded in November 2008, and joined Chatelaine in November after a stint at Style at Home.

Laurie Jennings, who was Wish’s managing editor and later senior features editor at Canadian House & Home,  has been appointed Chatelaine’s health editor and managing services editor; Catherine Franklin, who was style director at Wish and later beauty and fashion editor at Elle Canada, is now Chatelaine’s beauty and fashion editor. In February, Sandy Kim, who was art director at Wish, was named to the same position at Chatelaine. Claire Tansey, who was food editor at Canadian House & Home is now Chatelaine’s food editor.

Chatelaine is published monthly by Rogers and has a paid circulation of 553,000. It lost ground in both paid subscriptions and single copy sales, according to the latest ABC Fas-Fax report. It was down 7.4% in subscriptions and decreased 18.4% in single copy sales for the period ended December 31, 2009.
