The move was announced last week, CBC media relations spokesperson Chuck Thompson confirmed in an email to J-Source.
Earlier this month, CBC announced it was getting out of the professional sports coverage business following the loss of Hockey Night in Canada to Rogers. CBC will reduce its sport coverage, saying it can no longer compete against private broadcasters with specialty sports channels and multiple media platforms for professional sporting rights.
The move also follows the cancellation of CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight as the its host will join Hockey Night's Ron MacLean and Don Cherry, along with Sportsnet's Daren Millard and Jeff Marek, as its new anchor.
