Former Canadian journo named CEO of second-largest U.S. media chain

<p>Veteran journalist John Paton has been named CEO of MediaNews Group, the second largest U.S. media news chain and publisher of the <em>Denver Post</em>, <em>Salt Lake Tribune</em>, and others.</p><p>Paton is the former CEO of Canoe Inc, and former VP of Sun Media. He's also former publisher of the <em>London Free Press</em> and the <em>Ottawa Sun</em>. He is currently a director at Postmedia. He co-founded Spanish-language publication ImpreMedia in 2003.</p>

CP photogs share memories of 9/11 coverage

<p>Scores of media travelled to Manhattan once news of the 9/11 attacks hit, but many Canadian media were denied access into the city. CP photojournalists Ryan Remiorz and Paul Chiasson made it through -- after a police officer at the first checkpoint unthinkingly laid a press credential on Chiasson's larger, French "MEDIAS" press card, covering the IA and causing them to later be mistaken as medics. Together they recount their experiences in a short clip posted on <em>The Globe and Mail</em>.

Décès de Michel Roy, un grand du journalisme d’ici

<p style="margin-bottom: 0cm">L'ancien journaliste et diplomate, Michel Roy, est décédé hier à 82 ans des suites d'une maladie dégénérative. Tour à tour reporter, éditorialiste, rédacteur en chef, directeur de journal et président du Conseil de presse, il a sans doute été «l'un des journalistes francophones les plus connus et respectés du Québec», selon l'Encyclopédie canadienne.</p>

CBC Ombud talks balance in latest review

<p>CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe has released a new review in response to a complaint that a series of late June <em>Sunday Edition</em> segments on the police handling of the G20 protests were unbalanced and anti-police.</p><p>Lapointe concluded there was no violation of CBC Journalist Standards and Practices, ruling the focus of the programs were sound -- and that police and political officials were given a fair chance to appear on the show, choosing not to.</p>

Titre professionnel: les médias du ROC disent NO
