CBC memo on Sasa Petricic and Derek Stoffel

<p><a href="/article/updated-cbc-journalists-who-were-detained-turkey-have-been-released"><strong>Back to related article</strong></a></p><p>I wanted to update you on what we know about Sasa Petricic and Derek Stoffel, who are currently detained in Istanbul. </p><p>Both Sasa and Derek were picked up by police this morning while covering the ongoing protests.</p><p>They have since met with Canadian consular officials in Istanbul who are continuing to provide assistance.  They are currently speaking to their lawyer in advance of their statements to police. </p>

Global News makes history as first Canadian network to win Edward R. Murrow Award

<p>Global News has <a href="http://globalnews.ca/news/636363/global-news-wins-edward-r-murrow-award/">won the Radio Television Digital News Association's (RTNDA) National Edward R Murrow award</a> for Overall Excellence for network television.</p><p>It`s a historic win for its flagship newscast Global National with Dawna Friesen, and marks the first time a Canadian network has won the award since it was first presented in 1971. Recent award-winners include ABC News and NBC News.</p>

Patricia Graham leaves Pacific Newspaper Group

<p>Patricia Graham, vice president of digital at Pacific Newspaper Group, is leaving the company at the end of June. Graham worked as the editor-in-chief of the <em>Vancouver Sun</em> and has also worked at <em>The Province, The Globe and Mail </em> and the <em>Campbell River Courier Upper Islander</em>. </p>

Updated: Postmedia vacates two floors of Vancouver newsroom space

Tom Hawthorn wins two Grimmies for best obituary writing

CBC French service backpedals on name change from Radio-Canada to ICI

<p>CBC French-language service says it will now keep Radio-Canada in its name after facing criticism for a rebranding exercise that would have the public broadcaster drop Radio-Canada in favour of ICI.</p><p>Initially Radio-Canada was rebranding its radio station as ICI Première, its television service as ICI Télé and its website as ICI.ca. On Monday, CBC president Hubert Lacroix backpedalled, saying the three platforms will now be known as ICI Radio-Canada Première, ICI Radio-Canada Télé, and ICI Radio-Canada.ca respectively.</p>
