CanWest expanding media holdings

CanWest Global Communications Corporation is poised to expand its media holdings both in Canada and abroad, according to a story in the Globe and Mail‘s Report on Business. After last week’s acquisition of Alliance-Atlantis Communications Inc., CanWest is continuing to seek out media buys in both Canada and Australia. With the support of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., the New York-based dealer which helped finance the Alliance purchase, CanWest is looking to buy speciality channels in Canada and expand its media holdings in the South Pacific, says the story.
