The Canadian Association of Journalists has announced new workshops, panels, speakers and events that will take place at their upcoming annual conference, which will take place from April 27-29, 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
The Canadian Association of Journalists has announced new workshops, panels, speakers and events that will take place at their upcoming annual conference, which will take place from April 27-29, 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
Some of the things that have been confirmed so far include: A workshop surrounding sports journalism leading up to the 2012 Olympics; an all-day data journalism/computer-assisted reporting course with David McKie; tours of the Toronto Star newsroom and CTV Queen Street campus; a data mining seminar with Buzz Data; and an advanced Twitter for journalists workshop.
As well, the CAJ Awards gala will take place April 28. There are 14 award categories this year, with nominations due by Jan. 31. The awards include two new categories: the CAJ Award for Human Rights Reporting and CWA/CAJ Award for Labour Reporting. The conference is being run with the Newspapers Canada Ink&Beyond conference (April 26-27) and the National Newspapers Awards (April 27) this year. Those attending both can get a discounted rate on the CAJ conference.
