Business is good, relatively speaking

Despite the recent loss of the Halifax Daily News, a NADbank report released in early March had some encouraging news about Canadian newspapers, notes Kelly Toughill in “The Business of Journalism.” Newspaper penetration is still high among adult Canadians, and newspaper readership is stable overall. Meanwhile, a newspaper in Albuquerque publishes its own obit, advertising revenue is down and big city dailies are downsizing elsewhere in the U.S., and two UK regionals are struggling.
