This week in Canadian media history: Fire consumed CTV Ottawa newsroom in 2010

<p><img align="left" alt="" class="imagecache-medium inline-image" hspace="10" src="http://j-source.ca/sites/www.j-source.ca/files/imagecache/medium/images/CTV Ottawa_0.JPG" title="" /></p><p><strong>By Eric Mark Do, Reporter</strong></p><p>A fire consumed the CTV Ottawa newsroom on Feb. 7, 2010. The blaze <a href="http://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/ctv-ottawa-newsroom-destroyed-by-fire-1.481652" target="_blank" rel="noopener">caused $2.5 million in damage</a> and required 18 trucks, 70 firefighters and more than two hours to contain it. One security guard was working at the time not did not suffer any injuries.</p>

CTV Vancouver managing editor Ethan Faber joins JHR in Sierra Leone

Updated: Postmedia eliminates parliamentary bureau

Memo: Ottawa Citizen offering buyouts; five laid off at Postmedia’s parliamentary bureau

<p>Today the Citizen is announcing a new Voluntary Buy-Out offering for the newsroom. You will find details of the offering in the attached document, as well as posted on a board outside the HR office.<br /><br />Here, however, are some quick facts:<br />-The VBO is open to everyone in the newsroom.<br />-The calculation is based on three weeks of salary per year of service to a maximum of 78 weeks; total not to exceed $150,000; salary continuance.<br />
