<p>The Canadian Association of Journalism's national board is set to discuss what position the association will take on one of the industry's most controversial subjects: the licensing of journalists.</p><p>The board will discuss its position at its Sept. 17-18 meeting and plans to present a brief in the Quebec government consultation.</p>

READ MORE<p>CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe has released a new review in response to a complaint that a series of late June <em>Sunday Edition</em> segments on the police handling of the G20 protests were unbalanced and anti-police.</p><p>Lapointe concluded there was no violation of CBC Journalist Standards and Practices, ruling the focus of the programs were sound -- and that police and political officials were given a fair chance to appear on the show, choosing not to.</p>

READ MORE<p>Veteran CBC news host Evan Solomon is the new voice of the network's flagship political program, <em>The House</em>.<br /><br />Solomon currently hosts CBC's Power and Politics, which airs Monday - Thursday. He will continue to do so;<em> The</em> <em>House</em> airs on Saturdays.<br /><br />Solomon makes his debut Sept. 17th. He'll replace Kathleen Petty, who has been hosting the show since 2006, and <a href="http://j-source.ca/article/hunt-new-hosts-house-ottawa-morning">announced her move to Calgary</a> in early summer.<br /> </p>

READ MORE<p>Recent Carleton grad Thandi Fletcher has been awarded the 2011 Michelle Lang Fellowship in Journalism.<br /><br />The 22-year-old is the second young journalist to receive the fellowship, which was created in honour of award-winning <em>Calgary Herald</em> journalist Michelle Lang, who was the first Canadian journalist killed while reporting on the war in Afghanistan.<br />
