Hackgate: c’est possible chez nous, selon 40% des Canadiens

<p>Un canadien sur quatre est d'avis que les médias d'ici ne sont pas à l'abri d'un scandale similaire à celui qui a mené à la fermeture du tabloïd <em>News of the World</em> (<em>NOW</em>), selon un sondage Ipsos Reid commandé par la Fondation pour le journalisme canadien, éditrice de <em>ProjetJ.ca</em> et <em>J-Source.ca</em>. Canadians believe journalists pay for tips, hack phones

<p>About 40 per cent of Canadians believe phone hacking and paying for story tips are tactics used by media here, according to a <a href="http://www.ipsos-na.com/news-polls/pressrelease.aspx?id=5378" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently-released Ipsos Reid poll</a> conducted on behalf of the Canadian Journalism Foundation.<br />

Top court protects online links from libel claims

<p>Internet users who post hyperlinks to libellous material posted on other websites cannot be sued for repeating the libel, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled. The Oct. 19 ruling in <em>Crookes v. Newton</em> protects one of the most basic functions of the Internet -- the ability of users to share links to material posted online, even material they have not fully reviewed and they may not agree with.

Hebdo: Accès Laurentides contre Quebecor, la suite

Don’t name-call guests: CBC ombuds review

<p>CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe has a message for journos in his latest review: Don't call your guest names.</p><p><a href="http://www.cbc.ca/ombudsman/pdf/2011-10-13-Gangji.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The review</a> was prompted by the October 6 edition of <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/player/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Lang & O'Leary Exchange</em></a>, which featured an interview with American, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges on the Occupy Wall Street protests.</p>
