City of Toronto offers media training to residents after Danzig Street shooting

Canadian London 2012 press room named after Randy Starkman

<p> </p><p>Randy Starkman <a href="http://j-source.ca/article/randy-starkman-award-winning-sports-journalist-passes-away-51" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed away suddenly in April</a>, but his legacy at the Olympic Games will continue to live on, as <a href="http://olympic.ca/news/team/canadian-press-room-named-after-starkman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">it was announced today</a> that the press room at Canada’s Olympic House in Trafalgar Square would be named in his honour.</p>

What does a photographer need to cover the Olympics?

<p> </p><p>While surely many spectators will attempt to capture a visual piece of the 2012 London Olympics with their mobile phones, Olympic photojournalists need a few more pieces of equipment.</p><p>Steve Russell, a staff photographer with the <em>Toronto Star</em>, <a href="http://thestar.blogs.com/photoblog/2012/07/olympic-prep-take-a-peek-inside-my-camera-bag.html">has laid out all of the equipment he will be packing</a> inside his camera bag to bring to London, where he will cover his third Olympic games.</p>

An ear to the GroundWire: citizen journalism for community news
