Black Press sells three BC papers to Thompson River

Kamloops This Week, the Merritt Herald and the Prince George Free Press, all Black Press newspapers in BC, has been sold to Thompson River Publications Ltd. Partnership.

The purchase brings Thompson River’s stable to 10 newspapers.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity,” said Thompson River president Robert W. Doull in a Kamloops This Week (KTW) story. “For us, it’s a big step forward in terms of scope and scale. We’re convinced that newspapers are viable into the future.”

KTW publisher Kelly Hall will become group publisher and general manager of Thompson’s “central Interior properties.” KTW quotes him as saying “The general public and businesses in Kamloops will continue to see the award-winning journalism and excellent customer-service policies we provide. It is a seamless transition and we remain the only print product that has total market coverage.”
