“John’s unique perspective, observations and his connection to the people of the GTA, mixed with a healthy touch of humour, has engaged and entertained Toronto commuters every morning,” said Gord Harris, brand director of Talk Radio AM640, in a statement. “We’re thrilled this partnership with Global Toronto will give our listeners a taste of Liza’s personality, and that John will be able to share with Global’s viewers his insights on what Toronto is talking about through a live simulcast on air.”

The collaboration between the Corus radio station and Shaw’s Global Toronto comes as Canada’s broadcast regulator is reviewing the companies’ relationship ahead of its decision on whether to approve Corus’s $494-million acquisition of several television channels from BCE Inc.
As The Globe and Mail reported earlier this summer, the CRTC is looking for proof that Corus is independent from Shaw Communications before it approves the acquisition deal. Both companies are controlled by the Alberta-based Shaw family through special voting shares.
