An image by Italian photographer Pietro Masturzo has picked up the World Press Photo of the Year Award for 2009. The photo is of a woman shouting in protest from a rooftop in Tehran following Iran’s presidential elections in June, 2009.
The winning image was a part of a story, which itself won first prize in the People in the News category.
The award includes a 10,000 euro prize and Masturzo will accept his award at a ceremony in Amsterdam in May.
