Canadians believe journalists pay for tips, hack phones

Don’t name-call guests: CBC ombuds review

CBC launches ombudsman review

<p>CBC and Radio-Canada are set to review the mandate for their ombudsmen, following last year's successful update of CBC's <a href="http://www.cbc.radio-canada.ca/docs/policies/journalistic/xml/policies.asp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Journalistic Standards and Practices</a>.<br /><br />The ombudsman mandate has not been reviewed for several years; the goal is to consider the ombudsman's role in the current media landscape.<br />

British media give riot footage to police

<p>The BBC, ITN, and Sky News have all handed unbroadcast footage of London's August riots to police after being served court orders, <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/media/2011/sep/22/bbc-itn-sky-news-riots/print" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports the <em>Guardian</em></a>.</p><p>The <em>Daily Telegraph</em> also disclosed material after being served with a production order. In deciding whether to grant the order, judges are required to consider the police's interest in gaining evidence against the public's interest in free press.</p>
