Social media tips for community newspapers

<p><strong>By Monique Beech, Sun Media digital content director</strong></p><p>I had the distinct pleasure of addressing a group of journalists at the <a href="http://www.ocna.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ontario Community Newspapers Association’s</a> annual convention. Journalism is a tough job these days and running a smaller newsroom is among the toughest. I tried to offer this group a basic social media strategy that they could take back to their newsrooms.</p><p>Here it is:</p>

Postmedia posts net loss of $25.3 million in second quarter

CTV Vancouver leads at RTDNA BC Region Awards for television

<p><img alt="" class="imagecache-large inline-image" src="http://j-source.ca/sites/www.j-source.ca/files/imagecache/large/images/RTDNA_3.JPG" title="" /></p><p>CTV Vancouver won six television awards at the RTDNA BC Region Awards. Vancouver’s News1130 led in the radio category with five wins. </p><p>At the RTDNA Central Awards, CTV Barrie, CTV Toronto and Global Toronto each picked up two television awards. In the radio awards, CBC Sudbury and Toronto’s 680 News and Newstalk1010 each received three awards.</p>

Toronto Star digital editor John Ferri joins TVO
