The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Badrolsadat Mofidi, head of the Iranian Journalists Association, to six years in prison and banned her from working as a journalist for five years, reports Payvand Iran News.

Citing Radio Zamaneh as its source, the news site reports:

“An opposition website reports that Mofidi is accused of ‘assembly and collusion against national security and propaganda activities against the regime.’

“Mofidi, who now has 20 days to appeal the sentence, was in prison for over five and a half months in the post-election events and was released in June on bail.

“Badrosadat Mofidi was arrested by the order of Tehran’s prosecutor for participating in the funeral of dissident cleric, Grand Ayatollah Montazeri who passed away in December.”

According to Agence France Presse, Mofidi was detained in December after violent clashes between police and protesters on the Shiite mourning day of Ashura.
