National Post and t.o. night team up

<p>The <em>National Post</em> has teamed up with t.o. night to provide a <em>Financial Post</em>-branded page in the free evening newspaper.</p><p>The idea, said <em>National Post</em> publisher Douglas Kelly in a <a href="http://www.financialpost.com/markets/news/National+Post+Provide+Daily+Business+Coverage+night/5669859/story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a>, is to extend the paper’s business content to young, urban professionals; t.o. night benefits by getting a beefed up business section, to “better reflect our downtown readership.”</p>

Plateforme d’info régionale: Le Soleil craint la concurrence

<p>Sur recommandation du Rapport Payette, la ministre de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine, Christine Saint-Pierre, a demandé à Télé-Québec au printemps de réfléchir à la création d'une plateforme Web d'information régionale et interrégionale. Mais la direction du quotidien <em>Le Soleil</em> voit ce projet d'un mauvais œil et l'a fait savoir à la ministre dans le cadre de sa consultation publique «Pour une information au service de l'intérêt public».</p>

Kieffer: la justice met la main sur un témoin clef

Titre professionnel: le syndicat des journalistes du Droit est contre

<p>Le Syndicat des travailleurs de l'information du Droit (STID), un quotidien du groupe Gesca, s'oppose à la création d'un titre de journaliste professionnel (JP). Pour le STID, un tel statut responsabiliserait uniquement les journalistes sans régler les problèmes fondamentaux qui affectent la qualité de l'information.</p>

New AP retweeting guidelines

<p>The Associated Press has updated their tweeting guidelines once again. This time the revamp focuses on retweets.</p><p>As <a href="http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/mediawire/152016/ap-issues-staff-guidelines-on-retweets-no-personal-opinions-allowed-or-implied/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Poynter</a> reports, staff are told to keep opinions to themselves – and to AP, a retweet can be seen as an opinion. Disclaimers on retweets and endorsements, editorial staff adds, won’t cut it, either.</p>

Maclean’s tries augmented reality for Rethink issue

<p>For its <a href="http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/11/03/how-to-make-this-magazine-come-alive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">second annual Rethink issue</a>,<em> Maclean’s</em> is all about innovation – even when it comes to the magazine itself.</p><p>As the editors write, “Innovation also applies to journalism.” Augmented reality, they say, is a new way to enjoy the magazine.  </p>

A short history of the ampersand

<p>Did you know the wily (seriously, try drawing it) ampersand is really the result of B.C.-era scribes working too fast while writing “e” and “t”? Combined, the two letters were the Latin word et – as in “et, per se and”. Cependant, son<font color="#000000" style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: medium; "> vice-président aux Affaires corporatives et institutionnelles, Serge J. Sasseville, a fait parvenir une réponse écrite à <em>Enquête</em>.
