Reporters Without Borders joins internet blackout against SOPA

Out with a whimper: Canada’s election results ban

<p>The death of Canada’s election results ban was fittingly<a href="http://j-source.ca/article/ottawa-lift-ban-broadcasting-early-election-results" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> announced on Twitter</a> on Jan. 13. The law - which prohibited the reporting of results across time zones - survived a <a href="http://j-source.ca/article/bloggers-beat-back-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mass tweet</a> last election, but just barely.

The Globe and Mail names Sylvia Stead as its first public editor

<p>In a step to become more transparent and accountable,<em> The Globe and Mail</em> has appointed its first public editor. According to a memo sent to all staff and executives by editor-in-chief John Stackhouse on Monday, current associate editor Sylvia Stead will start in the new position at Canada's largest national newspaper on Jan 23.</p>
