READ MORE<p>Stephen Harper’s photo-op ATV ride through sand dunes near Whitehorse on Monday was to the chagrin of many, including local environmental activists and opposition MPs, but <em>The Hill Times</em> news reporter Tim Naumetz also drew heat in the wake of the story after it was discovered that he quoted NDP MP Megan Leslie as saying things that she never said.</p><p>It was not intentional, Naumetz told J-Source, but a huge mistake made in a deadline rush.</p>
READ MORE<p>The federal Office of the Information Commissioner is planning a review of Canada’s 30-year-old Access to Information Act. The commissioner’s office <a href="http://www.oic-ci.gc.ca/eng/med-roo-sal-med_nr-cp_2012_3.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said in July </a>that in the coming months it will “engage in a dialogue with the public and stakeholders on the modernization of the Access to Information Act.”</p>

READ MORE<p>Mary Baxter, a London, Ont.-based journalist and J-Source’s Agricultural journalism editor, has won an international award recognizing her writing on agricultural issues.</p><p>The International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) awarded Baxter with the Star Prize for Print Journalism for an article in <em>Better Farming</em> magazine titled “Lyme disease: the painful and hard-to-diagnose condition.”</p>
